The idea of BabyNew and celebrating the first year’s events of a baby’s life was conceived by Debra over 25 years ago when she had two infant daughters of her own two years apart. Realizing the one thing all parents and relatives had in common was the excitement of the daily changes and growth in an infant’s life and the desire to share them with everyone they knew. Generations are changing and people are waiting longer before starting their families. Both parents are more intimately involved in raising their families then ever. With so many families living miles apart, this is an easy, fun way to share and mark those one-time events of an infant’s life with something that will last for years to come. 

The design itself evolved starting with the infant, looking for something that would instantly put a smile on everyone’s face; it had to be unique and would represent a boy or girl. The dragonfly is something that touched Debra 5 years ago when she lost a brother. Her mother had sent her a newspaper article about dragonflies. It’s a beautiful story about the transformation of a water bug to a dragonfly and how it represents a new life and a new beginning. She was touched by the story and ever since has looked at dragonflies as a new life as well as good luck. 

So in every BabyNew design, you will find our little dragonfly representing a precious new beginning.
